The impact of plastics on the environment has drawn widespread attention for the last several years. Now new research is showing its devastating impact on human health, particularly on the most vulnerable in our society. In this webinar, participants will gain an understanding of why addressing plastic pollution is not only a health imperative but also a moral imperative to protect public health and future generations.

Dr. Philip Landrigan, MD, MSc, FAAP, Director of the Program for Global Public Health and the Common Good and professor at Boston College, will examine the impacts of the recent, rapid increases in plastic production and use through the lens of human health, ethics and social justice. He will also discuss how the plastics crisis needs to be addressed - through stronger regulations, improved waste management, and investment in safer, sustainable alternatives - and the role Catholic health care could play in advancing these solutions.
