“The Compassion of the Samaritan: Loving by Bearing the Pain of the Other” is the theme chosen by the Holy Father for the 34th World Day of the Sick. The Spanish word convivir, which means “to live together,” reminds us that we are called to live in communion, not in isolation and that bearing the pain of another requires proximity.
The purpose of the gathering is to unite those called to spiritual accompaniment and those serving in the Church’s healing ministries for a day of renewal, nurturing vocation, drawing strength from ministerial partners and reigniting a spirit of radical compassion for all.
Objectives:
- To nurture the spiritual life of those called to accompaniment.
- To increase the visibility and collegiality of local professional laity.
- To strengthen collaborative partnerships between sponsoring Catholic ministries.
This hybrid gathering is open to spiritual/pastoral care professionals, lay volunteers, social workers, case managers, mission and formation leaders, clinicians, and students.
The day will conclude with Mass for World Day of the Sick at 5:00 p.m., celebrated by Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller.
There will be an opportunity during the registration process to choose how you will be attending the program, In Person or Virtually.
Please Note: Mass will only be available in-person, and will not be offered virtually.
