Description
Co-sponsored by the Catholic Health Association in cooperation with The Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities.
The impact of plastics on the environment has drawn widespread attention for the last several years. Now new research is showing its devastating impact on human health, particularly on the most vulnerable in our society. In this webinar, participants gain an understanding of why addressing plastic pollution is not only a health imperative but also a moral imperative to protect public health and future generations.
Dr. Philip Landrigan, MD, MSc, FAAP, Director of the Program for Global Public Health and the Common Good and professor at Boston College, examines the impacts of the recent, rapid increases in plastic production and use through the lens of human health, ethics and social justice. He also discusses how the plastics crisis needs to be addressed - through stronger regulations, improved waste management, and investment in safer, sustainable alternatives - and the role Catholic health care could play in advancing these solutions.
